Beware Decision Fatigue

So, I bought a Kayak. Yeah. Still not sure what I was thinking. I was a little crazy before I moved. Some of you will remember those days. I was running around trying to get everything ready to pack up and ship out. One night, after a day of many decisions, I saw the wrong (or right) add and impulse bought a foldable kayak. You know, 'cause I need one in Washington D.C. Just picture me in a tri-corner hat standing in a kayak on the Potomac. Feeling patriotic yet?
Sorry to disappoint but I still don't know where I'm going. Give it 10 more days and I will have some exciting news to share. Until then we have to remember patience. It's not easy. I may not sleep.

Fortunately, there is a lot to keep me entertained. Oakley and I settled into a really great apartment and he has scoped out his favorite place under the coffee table. We have a mile walk to the dog park and we try to go daily. Both of us are getting our steps in.
Me, my dog, and my tri-corner hat are learning how to be feds. I have real suits I have to wear even though we are on zoom. I can neither confirm or deny if there are jammy pants going on. Right now orientation is for all foreign service regardless of role. In a few weeks we will break off into just MED. This part is interesting, but I can't wait for the medical portion. One thing I have learned is that there are amazing people that join the State Department. The life experiences and knowledge base they bring to the table are phenomenal.
In my MED group there are 7 NP or PA's and 1 physician. They are all brilliant. Seriously, I'm in really great company. It still feels unreal to be here. I'm excited to see where this career takes us and flattered to be with this group.

So, decision fatigue. It's real. If you aren't careful, you may have a 12' kayak in your living room someday. If you do, let me know. We will sail the Potomac together.
I’ve placed my bet! Waiting with you!!!
